Delhi-6 : Not bad at all

I generally don’t watch Hindi movies at all. I had heard delhi-6 songs all over, music by A R Rahman, so I thought the movie can’t be that bad!!

I hate movies which try to imbibe moral stories. This one is an exception. The beauty of the movie lies in it’s simplicity, the inner meaning of the message and partly in Sonam Kapoor 😛

Kudos to Sonam’s performance, one of the best I have seen in Hindi movies. Although the cinematography was alright, the picturization or rather editing of songs were pretty bad. I never for a moment felt that the actors in the movie were singing the song, no lip sync..Who ripped this movie?? err I watched it in a theatre.. So all the blame goes to the movie producers here.

There were major goof ups here and there. I wouldn’t say watch it with your brains turned off, because there are a lot of good points in the movie too.

The movie revolves around moto rokr.. You can see Abhishek flaunting it wherever he goes! He is full hip hop guy, but takes photos on a mediocre phone camera! I hated his fake accent too.

Call me a nerd but I have a sharp eye for technical detail. When Abhishek Bachhan chats with his mom on his MacBook Pro, he has used a cheap webcam. MacBook Pro comes with a nice webcam pre installed 😛

A very nice supporting role by Divya Dutta and the rest of the crew. A complete entertainer, I was feeling young again, watching the movie..

Special mention for A R Rahman’s music which is mindblowing.

I hate to say I hate the ending. You ask me why? Go watch the movie yourself. Trust me, there are worse movies running 🙂

I have tried a lot of operating systems in the past few years. I used to run only Fedora for quit some time. Windows XP for some 2 years, dual booting with Ubuntu, and recently only windows XP.

I installed Windows7beta on my comp, 64 bit edition that too, only to find I don’t have drivers for network adapter or sound card.
I have a Nvidia Ethernet Controller and a Yamaha powered sound card.

Today, I wanted a fresh install of Windows XP because my previous version of Windows was taking too much space on my hard disk. I installed a fresh copy of Windows XP, only to find that I need drivers for my ethernet card again!! Damn..I searched for my motherboard CD in a very bad shape. No wonder, I was unable to install drivers from it.

And yeah, don’t ever install XP over Win7, always do it the other way round. I am not able to find my boot manager after I installed XP!

I went to a cybercafe to download drivers. 120 MB!, and I got horrible speeds in the cuber cafe 8KBps!! Got really irritated.

Somehow it flashed to my mind that I had downloaded Ubuntu 8.04 sometime back and had burned it onto a CD! Voila, I booted through the Live CD, and watta surprise my internet connection on Linux works without any additional driver! Never had I dreamt that a day would come where I had to boot into Linux to download drivers for XP!! Good job there folks.

I am writing this blog booting from the Live CD. I must admit, the experience on the Live CD is mind boggling. Not for a moment did I feel it is a ‘Live’ OS. Very quick respone, every application works fine.No lags whatsoever. I am surprised!! The last time I used Live CD, my experience was not quite so pleasant. Some issue with my DVD drive and it would take forever to load, I guess it is fixed in the later versions of Ubuntu.

Now, I have fallen in love with Ubuntu again, planning to triple boot WinXP, Win7beta and Ubuntu.

Waiting for clock to tick 2, so that I can download my drivers.. Yawn Yawn..

Is your watch/clock fast or slow?

It is my final semester of Engineering. Most exciting and most boring semester of Engineering at the same time. It is not very uncommon to keep staring at watches, mine and sometimes others’ just to make sure my watch is running.

Many a times my friends ask me if my watch is proper! Fasta slowna?
(Is it fast or slow) is one of the most common questions accompanied with What time is it?
I spent some time wondering about it. Actually MOST of the times our watches are neither fast nor slow, it’s either ahead or lagging in time. Imagine your watch is fast. Generally it is said so if the actual time is say 12:40 PM and the time on your watch is 12:50 PM, if your watch is actually fast after 10 minutes it should read more than 1 PM. Got my point?

So the word is ahead or lagging. 🙂

I feel the word fast/slow is very much misused when it comes to time on time pieces. My 2 cents..

Do you agree? Please pen your opinions.

monthly bump

It’s been quite long since I last updated my blog. I have been busy with my .Net training in Microsoft (8 hours a day), but it has been really worth it.

BSNL has treated me really well. I am watching more series than ever before. I Will review some of my favorite serials in my next posts.

Make sure you click and subscribe to my Feeds on Google’s SMS channels. The link can be found just below the blog stats. You will get a free SMS update whenever my blog is updated. I can hear some “like I care”s 🙂

I bought a new DDR2 1 GB RAM from ebay for 300 bucks. Really sweet deal. Gotta try my hands on Windows 7 beta.

Signing off for today. Review on freaks and geeks tomorrow.
